The following is a basic outline of what your
child’s day of activities may be like:
1.
Circle Time:
large group, teacher directed, covering the calendar, weather,
jobs/classroom helpers (line leader, weather helper, etc.),
show-n-tell, Bible principle, singing, counting, introduction to the
alphabet letter, shapes, colors, listening, taking turns, exploring
our current theme, etc.
2.
Table Time:
large group, teacher-directed, doing a project related to the theme;
small motor skills, cutting, coloring, painting, writing…
3.
Centers:
small group, child directed
Dramatic Play:
role-playing, imagining, pretending, creativity…
Block Area:
building, making comparisons in shape and size, working together…
Reading Corner:
exploring books, quiet time, reading readiness...
Writing:
creativity, reading readiness, letter and number recognition,
drawing….
Art:
process of art rather than the product, creativity, small motor
development…
Table
Manipulative:
cooperative games, sequencing, sorting, manipulating objects, shape
recognition, color recognition, number recognition, letter
recognition…
Discovery Table:
observing and investigating materials, magnifying glasses, balances,
magnets…
4.
Rotating Centers:
cooking, play-dough, sand, water, painting…
5.
Snack:
each child will have their “special day” during the month when they
are able to bring a snack to share with their friends. A schedule
will be included in the monthly newsletter.
6.
Music and Movement:
action songs, dancing, scarves, beanbags, parachute, rhythm,
instruments, group games….
7.
Large
Motor/Outside: outside
playtime will be included in each day (weather dependant). If we
are unable to go outside we will use the large room for inside
large-motor games (parachute, beanbags, balls, etc.).
8.
Story-time:
each day we will close with one or two stories. Flannel stories and
interactive poems will also be used.
9.
Preschool Praise/
Bible Time: one day out
of the week (for the Pre-K class) and one day every other week (for
the preschool class) we will introduce or review the Bible story as
well as have a time of singing praise songs to the Lord!
Occasionally puppets will be brought in to help lead the songs!
